Happy Birthday Mom!

Owen Reinhart giving Mom flowers on her birthday, 2011

Happy Birthday Mom!

It has been beautiful here these past few days.  The strawberry patch you helped me build looks gorgeous.  I don’t think anyone could find a weed in it and it is full of fruit that will be ready for picking by the time we return from our vacation next week.   It reminds me that while we were together in Boise celebrating your birthday last year, Olivier was here making Strawberry Jam with his leg that was in a cast propped up on the counter while talking to you on the phone. (He managed to only drop and break one jar (not bad)).  We ate the last jar of his jam just this week.   Perfect timing!

Your rhubarb is also producing more than I thought possible.  I was convinced nothing could grow in that soil since I had been so unsuccessful the years prior.  It hasn’t gone passed me that the things that do the best in my garden are the things you touched.  I think about that every day; your very special way of helping things evolve and grow.

Everything is better because you were here.

I love you so much and miss you terribly,

Kelsss
